My schedule changes this week because we’re down a man and will be through most of September. On the plus side, overtime. On the negative side, overtime. The schedule will, however, be predictable and it turns out that’s a major thing for keeping me happy at work.
I had to do a major housecleaning last week for Spouse’s work event. As a result, the house is cleaner than it’s been in a while. Of the two of us, I’m definitely the clutterer. Because we were also going to do a yard sale with a friend, it was the perfect opportunity to get rid of a whole bunch of things. The end result is that the room intended to be a gym now actually resembles a gym.
I’ve got enough room for a yoga mat and plenty of space to move and I’m pretty excited about it.
I’m also excited about my new favorite cocktail, which I’m calling the Gatsby. Not because Jay Gatsby would have drunk it but because it seems like it would’ve fit for his crowd (and calling it the West Egg would just be clumsy). It’s one part cucumber-infused vodka, four parts Diet Squirt. Garnish with fresh ginger if you like. Motherfucking refreshing and delicious.
Well Fed continues to be the best thing that happened to my summer (the Gatsby is a close second). I’m really enjoying cooking the food and, surprisingly, enjoying the prep. I have given it to a couple of people and recommended it to literally everyone I know. I like it well enough that I’ve also bought it in hard copy (thanks, birthday money!).
And right now, I’m winding down my Monday with the new Footloose which (I’m sad to say) is vastly superior to the original.
