Since I blogged anything! Part of that was coming to the bitter, sodden end of my rope at work and the process of getting a new job. A new job, I add, that I begin tomorrow at o’dark thirty with an epic drive and something passing a 10 hour day. And when I get home, I’ll go to my original job because we’re still shorthanded. Soon that will not be my problem.
In the last month I’ve read some books (though mostly they were in the last couple of weeks). I’ve got about 70 things in my Kindle’s TBR folder and I’m trying to get through a bunch of those before the holiday book/giftcard rush hits.
Speaking of holidays, I’m finding that Springpad is the easiest thing (besides Amazon) to keep track of things I like. The web and mobile apps are similar enough interface that it provides a fairly seamless experience. That’s your random app endorsement of the day.
Apps leads me to phones, which brings me to our Galaxy S3 purchase. We were due to upgrade this month and I’m not sure if it was overuse or use beyond their purpose, but our Droid X’s began to randomly freak out and call people on their own, open apps without people, et cetera. The new phones are, indeed, wicked sweet and I’m enjoying that experience. It also means I’m paring out the apps I did and didn’t use versus on the Droid X and I’m finding that my list of what I like is pretty consistent. The things I used, I use a lot. The things I didn’t use a lot, I didn’t really use at all.
Incidentally the screen is worth the price. Reading and watching things on the S3 is a pleasure (yay netflix!).
I finally figured out the damn account I had tied to our Xbox live and cancelled that. I wouldn’t have, if I hadn’t been sorting through lastpass to add apps to the new phone so that was an added bonus.
Updates to the reading list are in the sidebar –> but I’ve read a bunch of things I thoroughly enjoyed and a handful of crap. Of course, the things that go in the list are only the things I’m willing to admit to reading (including The Fault in Our Stars). You can assume I read twice as much utter crap that doesn’t dignify conversation.
In music notes, I’m loving Gary Clark’s Blak and Blu, Grace Potter and the Nocturnals, the Avett Brothers latest and all things Miranda Lambert. The Civil Wars have also featured prominently in my playlist and I’m in danger of purchasing a Luke Bryan album. I know, I know – not all country is created equal but Drunk on You is kind of a great song. Also, I CAN’T STOP WATCHING the Gangnam Style video. I just can’t.
I’m looking forward to the Les Mis film this Christmas, as well as maybe the Cirque de Soliel movie.
I’ve been cooking! Thanksgiving was nothing short of epic (as it seems to be every year) and the legend grows. I also picked up a new cookbook (in addition to Well Fed which has become a staple) so I’m looking forward to trying some new things. There’s a solid chance of people I like getting that cookbook as a holiday gift…
I’m headed to bed soon, perhaps to watch some Once Upon a Time as I doze off. Early to bed because I’m up before the sun these next two days.
