We had a minor accident on I70 last night. Between spring storms, melt and sudden temperature changes the entire highway was a sheet of ice. We were very lucky and able to get ourselves out. Damage to the truck which, due to its age and mileage, would probably total it if we made a claim (we won’t) but perfectly driveable. There was a solid chance we were going to take out (or be taken out by) a very large sign. Luckily it hit the half-door behind me.
Also, taxes. Blargh. We are (predictably) paying in again. I try not to grouse about this too much as I’m all for taxes paying for services. On the other hand, the college kind of hosed us by suddenly taxing us for M’s tuition (which they didn’t do last year). Not knowing means not planning and well, coming up with some cash in the next several months.
Speaking of M, he’s on the road again. I really don’t enjoy the nights he’s out of town. I will, in all likelihood, have over some friends to eat pasta but it always makes it hard to sleep.
The house is a bit cleaner than usual because we had an impromptu meatloaf party on Friday. Good times were had, and I spent some time sweeping up an entire Piper-sized pile of Piper hair from household crevices and under furniture that never moves. All the dishes are cleaned and put away. If I’m feeling ambitious I’ll maybe try to tackle laundry.
Clearly there are other things happening in the world, but this is the picture here. I’m feeling lucky to be alive and happy to be in a country where most things are possible.
